Jena Town Plan Adopted

The Mayor and Council unanimously adopted the Jena Town Plan on January 26, 2010. The most recent and updated files can be downloaded from the links to the right.

The overriding principle of this plan was to ensure that the culture and friendly small town atmosphere was preserved while the community plan's for greater growth and prosperity. Dedicated citizens and other stakeholders have made this plan viable and assures us of successful
implementation.

DRAFT PLAN: Jena's Vision Ready for Review

We are pleased to announce that a draft of the Town Plan is ready for public review. Thanks to all who took the time to provide critical input into the formulation of this plan.

On January 11, 2010, members of the consultant team will be back in Jena to present the draft plan to the general public. The meeting will be held at Jena Town Hall, 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm: Informal Q&A, 6:00 pm t0 7:00 pm: Formal presentation.

Public Open House

On Thursday evening, approximately 65 people gathered at Jena Town Hall to watch Lee Einsweiler of Code Studio present the outline for the proposed Town Plan. Public Open House: Sept 24, 6 PM @ Jena Town Hall

Now that you have had time to distill the ideas and concepts that came out of the charrette, members of the consultant team will be back in Jena to receive additional input. The public open house will include a presentation of the draft plan outline and a discussion on implementation steps taken to date. It is not too late to provide critical input in the planning process. Come out and see us!

Final Presentation

101 people squeezed into Town Hall to watch the closing presentation for the charrette to see how the team fused the ideas presented at the visioning session into an achievable plan for the community. Lee Einsweiler presented a summary of the weeks events, which included illustrative drawings of the proposed alignment of Highway 84, downtown and Trout. “Before” and “after” computer visualizations of proposed changes to downtown were shown. Following Lee's presentation, Ed Starkie talked about potential economic opportunities for Jena. After the presentation, participants were encouraged to review and offer further suggestions or input on the draft concepts, which were displayed throughout the room.
